June 02, 2019 - Good day for a bike ride.
One of the largest and longest running mountain bike races in the southeast, the Bump & Grind is an Alabama classic. The cat1 race began at 11am with a temp already low 90’s and rising. 30 miles of grueling climbs and rocky technical descents.
My start wasn’t great and I entered the woods about 15th place and couldn’t find my rhythm. I slowly picked a few people before getting to the main climb where I slowly reeled a few more in.
I traded places aces with two guys the rest of the race. I’d pass them going up. They’d pass me going down.
I finished 5th in the under 40 cat 1 race. 5 minutes behind 1st!!
