Hard days in the saddle

A great way to spend Thanksgiving weekend racing with such a great group of riders.

After a year of no race events it was fantastic to be back between the tape. Incredible weather and an amazing venue for two days of intense cyclocross. With barely any rides in during the last two months I had set my expectation pretty low. Race #1 on Saturday evening was tough as I shook the cobwebs off and settled into my groove. I found myself pacing with a group of other riders until the final laps when I began to fade. At the finish I felt as if I had been hit by a moose, but the joy of being back to racing made up for the feeling of fatigue.

Race #2 on Sunday was another incredible day, much cooler at slightly above freezing made for an important warm up. Felt much better at the start and during the race and finished feeling better than the day prior. As the second days are always better for me I think I need to find a good leg openers workout for the day before the first race.
