I have been racing bikes for the past 16 years but had to take a break for about 5 years when I was diagnosed with a heart disease (more here: https://www.ironheartfoundation.org/stories/todd-hatfield/) Since returning to racing mtn bikes (mostly endurance races) I have been an ambassador for heart disease through the Ironheart Foundation- showing folks that you can survive then thrive with heart disease. I also coach little league sports (basketball/baseball/football) and support my kids racing mtn bikes and BMX. To support my bike habit, I work at the world famous Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.
