As a Colorado native, a love of the outdoors and intrinsic motivation to be active comes natural; however, last June, after weeks of suffering extreme nausea, mental and physical fatigue, poor performance, and what I assumed was an allergic reaction to sunscreen, I was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune conditions that were being exacerbated by UV exposure...not ideal for an avid cyclist to say the least.
Fast forward to today, and after multiple drug cocktails, flare ups, breakdowns, and countless hours spent riding the trainer in the dark, I am finally able to get outside and ride. This experience has given me a new perspective on perseverance and what it means to be active. It has also pushed me to share my story in the hopes of inspiring others to overcome their setbacks.
