I am a 6ft6in Firefighter/Paramedic, father of two, and I am married to current team member Samantha Knapp. I began racing triathlon in 2012 at the Coeur d'Alene 140.6 Ironman. Then I developed a love of the sport and love the entire lifestyle that still continues today. Developing my technique and fitness over a few years and I had found my sweet spot race to be the half Ironman distance. I have had the opportunity to race in Ironman Worlds 70.3 two times; Australia 2016 and South Africa 2018. Today, my goals are to branch out into other brands and varying events. This year I followed Samantha to Steamboat Springs Gravel and was inspired to plan something like that for me in 2020. Today I am happy to say I just got the word I was accepted into the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in San Fransisco, CA for the 3rd time!
We are a triathlon family. Between Samantha and I, we are looking to participate in approximately 15 different races individually (so far) in 2020. We have 2 kiddos; so in local(ish) races we can both race together and when we travel, only one of us can race, but the other can be the cheering squad with the kids. Physical activity is an important component in a well -balanced life. We model the active lifestyle for our kids in hopes it leads them to a healthy, supportive, and goal-oriented lifestyle for themselves.
